Hamigdal , Harim Bakery Meets Tower of David Views
When the Tower of David Museum completed its major renovation and new entrance pavilion in 2024, Hamigdal opened as the venue's integrated cafe, bringing the acclaimed pastries of Harim Bakery from the Jerusalem Hills to one of the city's most historic and visited locations. The Harim group partnership with Derech HaGefen created a dual-concept operation: self-service daytime cafe and evening wine bar, both leveraging the spectacular elevated terrace overlooking Jaffa Gate and the Old City walls. Under Rabanut Yerushalayim dairy supervision, pastry chef Oren Chiyo's sweet creations arrive daily from the main bakery while savory items are prepared fresh on-site. The self-service format suits museum visitors seeking quick, quality refreshment, while the evening wine bar transforms the space for leisurely appreciation of Jerusalem's panoramic beauty.
Harim Bakery's reputation precedes Hamigdal. The main facility in Kiryat Anavim, in the verdant Jerusalem Hills, has built a following for professional pâtisserie that doesn't compromise on kashrut standards. Pastry chef Oren Chiyo creates European-style pastries, croissants, danishes, tarts, executed with proper technique and quality ingredients. The Black Forest danish at ₪28 and croissant with chocolate at ₪28 represent accessible entry to this quality, while more elaborate pastries showcase the kitchen's capabilities.
