About TaamTaam

Israel's Premier Kosher Restaurant Guide

Who We Are

TaamTaam is Israel's premier kosher restaurant guide, built for diners who care about both the quality of their food and the integrity of their kashrut. We combine the editorial depth of fine dining journalism with rigorous kashrut verification, creating a resource that serves observant Jews, kosher travelers, and food enthusiasts alike.

Our name, meaning "taste taste" in Hebrew, reflects our dual commitment: celebrating exceptional cuisine while honoring the standards that make kosher dining meaningful. Every restaurant in our guide has been visited, verified, and reviewed by our team.

Our Mission

Finding a great kosher restaurant should not require guesswork. Too often, diners must piece together scattered information about kashrut certification, supervision levels, and food quality from unreliable sources. TaamTaam exists to solve this problem.

We make kosher dining information accessible, trustworthy, and comprehensive. Whether you are planning a Shabbat dinner in Tel Aviv, a business lunch in Jerusalem, or searching for a mehadrin restaurant in Haifa, TaamTaam gives you the verified details you need to dine with confidence.

What We Verify

Kashrut is not a single standard. It encompasses multiple dimensions that matter deeply to observant diners. For every restaurant in our guide, we verify and clearly present the following details:

Hashgahah Body

We identify the certifying rabbinical authority responsible for each restaurant's kashrut supervision, including the city or regional rabbinate. This tells you exactly who stands behind the certification and what standards they uphold.

Teoudat Level

Each restaurant's kashrut certificate level is documented: Mehadrin, Regila, Badatz, Tzohar, or Chabad. These distinctions carry real significance for diners who follow specific rabbinical rulings.

Halav Israel Status

For dairy restaurants, we confirm whether the establishment uses exclusively Halav Israel products. This is a critical detail for many observant diners and one that is often difficult to verify independently.

Meat Supervision

For meat restaurants, we document the level of supervision over the meat supply chain, including the source and standard of shechita. This ensures diners can match the restaurant's practices to their personal standards.

This level of kashrut transparency means you never have to wonder or call ahead. Every detail is verified and presented clearly on each restaurant's page, so you can make informed decisions before you arrive.

Our Review Process

Every review on TaamTaam is written by an independent food critic who visits the restaurant in person. We do not publish user reviews or aggregate scores from external platforms. Our editorial approach draws inspiration from the Michelin Guide tradition: thorough, fair, and focused on the complete dining experience.

Each review is approximately 1,600 words and evaluates five core dimensions:

  • Cuisine: The quality of ingredients, technique, creativity, and flavor. We assess each dish on its own merits and within the context of the restaurant's culinary identity.
  • Ambiance: The atmosphere, design, lighting, and overall feeling of the space. A great meal is shaped by its setting.
  • Service: Attentiveness, knowledge, pacing, and professionalism of the staff. Service can elevate or diminish any dining experience.
  • Kashrut Integration: How seamlessly the restaurant incorporates kosher standards into its culinary vision. The best kosher restaurants treat kashrut as inspiration, not limitation.
  • Practical Dining Advice: Reservations, parking, best times to visit, recommended dishes, price range, and tips that help you plan the perfect meal.

Our critics remain anonymous during visits and accept no compensation from the restaurants they review. This independence is the foundation of our credibility.
