CE2: A Dubai Rooftop Comes to the Ashdod Sea

The first thing you notice at CE2 is the horizon. The elevator opens onto a rooftop washed in warm white plaster, low woven pendants throwing a soft copper glow, and beyond the low iron railing the Mediterranean stretches flat and slate blue to the edge of sight. A DJ is already at the deck at nine on a Wednesday night, easing into a slow Levantine electronica set, and a waiter passes carrying a whole sea bream on a wooden board, its skin blistered from the fire, a wedge of lemon smoking gently beside it. Somewhere below, the Ashdod marina lights blink into life. This is Ce2 on an early summer evening, and this is the return of Chef Idan Pompi Bushari to a dining room of his own.

Idan Bushari is not a stranger to a busy pass. He came up through Assaf Granit's Machneyuda Group, won the Israeli television competition that anointed him next restaurant of the year, and opened Kilometrage inside the Brown Brut Hotel on Rothschild in Tel Aviv, a project that ran for two years before the hotel closed and dragged the restaurant down with it in late 2024. Ce2 is his comeback, and he has moved south rather than sideways. The choice of Ashdod is not accidental. This is a city that has quietly built one of the best kosher fish scenes in the country over the last decade, from Pescado's flagship on the marina down to the smaller operations along the coast, and Bushari has landed on the highest rooftop in that story.

About the Place

CE2 is a Halavi kosher rooftop restaurant and bar at Max Nordau 13 in Ashdod, opened in June 2026 by Chef Idan Pompi Bushari, alumnus of Assaf Granit's Machneyuda Group and former chef of Tel Aviv's Kilometrage. The Dubai inspired rooftop faces the Mediterranean Sea over roughly two hundred seats, anchored on whole fish grilled over open flame (denis, foreleh), handmade pasta including a signature white corn cream tortellini in salted caramel butter with Parmigiano Reggiano, house baked breads, and a caviar plate. The kitchen is dairy with no meat on the menu, and the room transforms across the night from an airy Mediterranean dining room into a full cocktail bar with a DJ. Certification is Halavi under Rabanut Ashdod at Regila level. Reservations run through Ontopo, hours are Sunday to Thursday 18:30 to midnight and Saturday from 22:00 to 00:30, and the phone is 050-719-9457.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is CE2 in Ashdod and how do I get there?

CE2 sits on a rooftop at Max Nordau 13 in Ashdod, on the Marina strip that anchors the city's beachfront dining scene. The venue faces west onto the Mediterranean, a short walk from the Ashdod marina and the northern hotel row. Public parking is available along Nordau and around the marina.

Who is the chef behind CE2?

CE2 is led by Chef Idan Pompi Bushari, alumnus of Assaf Granit's Machneyuda Group and winner of the Israeli television competition Israel's Next Restaurant. Bushari previously owned Kilometrage inside Tel Aviv's Brown Brut Hotel until it closed with the hotel in late 2024. CE2 is his comeback rooftop project.

What is the kashrut level at CE2?

CE2 is certified Halavi under Rabanut Ashdod at the standard Regila level. The kitchen is fully dairy, with fish and pasta anchoring every plate, and no meat is served. Chalav Yisrael status and the specific greens supervision are pending direct confirmation from the restaurant. The venue closes Friday night and reopens on Motzei Shabbat.

What should I order at CE2?

Start with the caviar plate and a spread of dips and breads, then move to the signature white corn cream tortellini dressed in salted caramel butter and Parmigiano Reggiano. For the main event, share a whole denis or foreleh grilled over open flame with lemon and sea salt. Handmade pasta and Mediterranean sides round out the table well.

How much does a full dinner cost at CE2?

A full dinner at CE2 runs roughly 220 to 320 shekels per diner with a glass of wine, more if the table shares a whole fish or orders the caviar plate. The restaurant sits at price level 4 (Premium) on the TaamTaam scale, positioned as an upscale rooftop above a casual Ashdod fish house but below a full tasting menu.

Does CE2 turn into a bar in the evening?

Yes. CE2 is designed to shift across the night. Early service reads as a chef driven dining room; from around ten the lights drop, a DJ takes over, and the bar fills with couples and small groups drinking cocktails on the deck. The cocktail program is citrus forward and low sugar, with signature drinks that reference the fish menu.

How do I book a table at CE2?

Reservations at CE2 run through Ontopo on their dedicated booking page. The rooftop seats around two hundred and fills first on weekends and on the Motzei Shabbat sitting, so book at least a week ahead for a sunset table on the west facing edge. You can also reach the restaurant directly on 050-719-9457.
